We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Amr Farrag, a graduate resident under the supervision of Dr. Adriana Manso, has received Dr. Christopher Wyatt Graduate Award in Dentistry, recognizing excellence in Geriatrics and Prosthodontics research. The project "Influence of photosensitizer loading on the physicochemical and antimicrobial properties of a denture resin for additive manufacturing” is an innovative work focused on addressing denture stomatitis, a common condition caused by C. albicans. By incorporating photosensitizers into denture resin, the proposed approach proves control pathogenic biofilms without compromising the material's physical and chemical properties. The finding in this research represents a significant advancement in prosthodontics and geriatrics, addressing a critical oral health issue and ultimately improving the quality of life and wellbeing for many denture wearers.
