Dr. Bertassoni and his team have secured over $1 million to establish and expand the Knight Cancer Precision Biofabrication Hub.
The hub aims to unravel the mysteries of cancer and other diseases using lab-grown organoids, 3D-printing technology, and organs-on-a-chip, amongst other techniques. Dr. Bertassoni's team has also amazingly developed a material that acts as a scaffold for bone regeneration when injected into bone defects.
With this funding, the hub will be equipped with more cutting-edge technologies, allowing researchers to further simulate organ structure and function, and observe the complexities of cells as they grow, interact, and metastasize.
These innovative approaches have the potential to revolutionize cancer research, improve healthcare outcomes, and transform the future of medicine.
